Bebe Cool’s ambassadorial role starts paying off

A few days ago, Bebe Cool flew to Vietnam after being invited to discuss how best Uganda can be funded through him as the TB Ambassador. Well, that meeting went as expected as the musician has been able to receive a grant of $398,344 from Stop TB Partnership’s TB REACH initiative at a ceremony that took place in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

The grant comes through his recently founded nonprofit organization ‘The Amber Heart Foundation’ which is in support of activities aimed at finding missing TB patients within the districts of Kampala, Jinja, and Mbarara.

This grant is a result of a vigorous application exercise that saw The Amber Heart Foundation triumph over 600 applications that had to be chosen from all over the world.

“This is a great boost to my charity efforts. While for years I have been undertaking different charity works at my personal expense, it feels great when someone else recognizes such efforts and decides to chip in. This is a great boast for our health care system. The Amber Heart Foundation using this grant comes in to feel the gap of awareness and mobilization of people for testing and treatment.” said Bebe Cool after receiving a dummy cheque.

The TB REACH initiative is funded by the Government of Canada and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Bebe Cool was appointed Uganda’s Tuberculosis Ambassador last year and has been engaging in many charitable activities like donating shs60million from the proceeds of his ‘Golden Heart Concert’ towards facilitating treatment of children with heart defects.
