Pizza or Rolex, what would you choose?

Although there is debate about the origin of the word Pizza, old books assert that it comes from the Latin word pinsa, meaning flatbread.

In Uganda there is no clear data that explains the origin of the much celebrated street food called Rolex as for Italian Ambassador H.E. Massimiliano Mazzanti thought it to be a watch as much known in Europe not until when he recently arrived in Uganda.

As part of the Italian Cultural and Culinary week, organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic of Italy, Last night there was a battle of meals as revelers where treated to Rolex and Italian Pizza

Dubbed the Pizza vs. Rolex competition, five Italian chefs from who were flown in from Piedmont-Italy battled with Ugandan Chefs at Pizza Italia Restaurant in an event that attracted a couple of people who tasted both the Pizza and Rolex.

It is understood that the Chefs who hail from Piedmont which is the historical home of the Pizza will also be in charge of conducting a master cooking class at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel on Saturday 23rd November in an event open to the public at a fee.

With the patronage of the Embassy of Italy in Uganda, H.E. Massimiliano revealed that the proceeds from the master cooking class will be donated to Katalemwa Cheshire Home, a Ugandan NGO that deals with children with disabilities.
