Purpose. The award- winning actress says she is here to encourage and motivate Ugandans who will attend her two-hour talk.
American actress Karen Abercrombie, more recently famed for her lead role in the film War Room, is in Kampala.
Ms Abercrombie will be speaking at what has been dubbed the ‘War Room Conference’ scheduled for today at Imperial Royale Hotel.
She is in Uganda on invitation of Pastors Mark and Maureen Mukasa. Speaking to Sunday Monitor, the award-winning actress says she is here to encourage and motivate Ugandans who will attend her two-hour talk.
“No matter what you have gone through, no matter what has been done to you, it needs not to take you out of play. God is very intentional about everything. That is why the sun rises every day the way it does,” she explains.
She adds: “Many people think because they have messed up in their lives, they are poor and not the smartest, that they can’t do so much, but God has given each one of us something particular just for us. He can use every what we have gone through and flip that chat. You may have done drugs or been through a divorce and can teach those struggling through.”
The Hollywood actress is a recipient of the ‘Dove Award’ for portraying 80-year-old Miss Clara as a prayer warrior in Kendrick Brothers film, War Room, a role she says she landed almost by miracle.
Ms Abercrombie is also a story teller and song writer. Students are expected to part with Shs10,000 as entrance to the conference while adults will pay Shs20,000 for ordinary tickets and Shs50,000 for VIP tickets, a fee that will entitle one to a snack and drink.
The conference is her second time in Uganda, having come in 2015 on a charity project. She praises Uganda for being a warm country, reflected by the sincerity and cordiality of the souls of its people.
