Much as Claire Nampala’s film ‘The Forbidden’ is continuing to shine at various Film festival arrangements, the greatest beneficiary of the film could be actress Leilah Nakabira.
Apparently, Nakabira who was the lead actress in the film was this week nominated for best child performer and best actress at Kenya’s Lake International Pan African film festival 2019.
An actress and the proprietor of film talk YouTube channel called Dear Actor, Nakabira is the reigning best actress of the Pearl international film festival and she has been nominated in over 10 award arrangements.
Other Ugandans nominated in the same arrangement includes Samuel savior Kizito, Hillary Musiima, Daniel Lowly Mbabazi and Kasozi Austin for their respective roles and contributions to The Forbidden.
Mulindwa Richard who was recently awarded in Ghana and Dallas together with Rwamusigazi Kyakunzire were also nominated for their contribution on Ugandan film 94 Terror.
Ugandan films that were also nominated include; ‘Saved’, for the Best Film on Children, ‘Bread winner’, for Jury’s Award and Rehema which was nominated for the Best Film on African Cultural Issues.
The inaugural LIPFF Festival (2016) had over 800 entries from all over the world, with over 100 films from Kenya and Africa.
