Nigerian new kid on the block Joeboy made it to Uganda thanks to his hit song ‘My Baby’. The singer who came together with another UK rap group called WSTRN were the headliners of the Smirnoff vodka Malembe Block Party that took place at Guvnor Parking located in Industrial area. The crowd was mostly made of what many term as rich Kids who perhaps had just come back for the term’s holidays. The show which attracted a moderate crowd that filled the VIP section leaving some space in the ordinary started on the low with little known Artistes taking to the stage to perform as they made way for the big wigs of Kampala.

Big Trill proved he can still come back on the scene after years of inconsistence. He performed only his recent songs and he attracted cheers from the crowd for the good show he put up. A Pass who came on stage after Big Trill didn’t perform because the sound was messed up and so couldn’t go on with his performance despite the fact that he looked energetic and determined to give the crowd a good show.

Although what might have pulled the small crowd to the Guvnor parking lot was Singer Joeboy, many were shocked that he was not the performer to crown the night. He showed up on stage but being a new kid on the block, just a few of his songs were known by the crowd. He performed about 6 songs and all he got in return was the crowd looking at him as though he was singing a church hymn. Joeboy saved the best for the last when he finally sung ‘My Baby’, a song that has been well received by Ugandans. It is the only song that excited the revelers and after which he left the stage.

WSTRN, a group of two then came on stage. They did songs that almost no one knew. They continued performing for a crowd that kept on looking at them until they asked Ugandans what the most trending song is. When the loudest word was ‘Nkuloga’, they asked DJ Sese who was on the decks to play ‘Nkuloga’ by Grenade as they mimed it calling it a show.
