STANDING OUT. Sandrah Kahumuza Twinoburyo is a newsanchor for the Weekend Edition bulletins at NTV Uganda. She typically has three different kinds of days and her activities range from anchoring, office work and meetings as well as field days Charlotte Ninsiima shares how she spends her week.
Monday
This is my day off. I often hold meetings on different projects and initiatives I am working on. I also go to the salon for general grooming -for hair and nails.
Tuesday
I am up by 9am to do housework. I enjoy cooking, especially grilling. Sometimes, I spend the entire day at home reading, watching movies, resting or hosting friends.
Wednesday
I am always assigned to cover stories. This means going to the field. I head back to office, prepare the script, do the video editing and voicing. I submit my story for approval. I usually get back home earlier on such days compared to when I am anchoring news.
Thursday
When I get to office, I attend a series of meetings. I still go to the field to collect news stories whenever I am assigned.
Friday
My typical anchoring day starts at 6am. My morning routine starts with a prayer then I scan through my phone to get quick updates of what happened while I was asleep. After completing my day’s assignments, I rush to the saloon to prepare for my night bulletin that airs at 9pm every Friday to Sunday (NTV Weekend Edition).
I review upcoming news items, and head to the studio.
Saturday
This is one of my busiest days because I usually have a full diary. I get up around 7am and rush to work. Since I have a talk show- Talk of the Nation,
I discuss the topic with my producers. I gather details of the guest, research about the topic, come up with pertinent questions that viewers would want answered. I also prepare for NTV at One, which airs at 1pm.
Sunday
The routine is very similar to that of Saturday but I spend most afternoons with close friends or family.
If I have nothing planned for the afternoon, I stay in office and do editing work or research on some stories.
