I cannot talk about my first girlfriend- Vince Musisi

Vince Musisi

UP-CLOSE. Vince Musisi is a music producer, sound engineer and the head of production at Zion Productions. Before becoming independent, he worked at Fenon Studio, No End and Swangz Avenue. He shares with ISAAC SSEJJOMBWE his firsts.

The first thing I do in the morning…
I get my phone, go to the toilet and multitask.

The first thing I do when I get to work…
I pray and greet everyone around. If it is actors on set or clients, I introduce myself to them.

My earliest childhood memory….
Seeing my brother buried (in the 80s). I thought he was asleep and hoped he would join us later .
The fun memory is the day my brother Robert bought me my first pair of shoes.

My first best friend…
George Katumba was my first best friend before I met Bob and Andrew Kyamagero.

My first kiss…
Aya!! It was behind Primary Seven class with a girl named Shabirah. We were both in Senior One at St Pius Secondary School. The primary and secondary sections were in the same compound. But, because there was a lot of supervision on the side of the secondary school, we dodged to the primary section.

My childhood hero…
It used to be President Museveni because my parents told nice stories about him but that changed. I also loved footballers such as Bebeto, JJ Okocha and Brazilian and Nigerian footballers.

My first girlfriend…
Hehe! I cannot disclose that because she is now someone’s wife and if I mention her, things might end up bad for both of them.

The first book I read…
The Nile English Course and lots of Bible stories. Even Basajja Mivule by Solomon E.K. Mpalanyi, some Luganda book.

My first job…
I was an intern at Fenon Studio under Steve Jean, Benon Mugumbya, and Henry Kiwuwa before I was retained as a music producer.

My first salary…
Shs300,000 per month.

My current job …
I’m the CEO of Zion Productions Ltd, a film company. I get contracts from clients and my friends Julius Kyazze and Benon Mugumbya at Swangz to do audio and film.

What I like about my job..
The ability to meet talented people and work with them. It is refreshing when you work on a project with amazingly skilled people.

What I dislike about it…
There is no specific schedule, one phone call can change my week and I’m always ready to travel for work. Sometimes you plan to spend time with your child on weekend and boom… an event happens.

Biggest regret…
I don’t have regrets in life … I believe challenges come to teach me lessons that shape me. Romans 8:28 says, “And we know that everything works together for the good of those that love God.”
Most memorable experience…
The first time I boarded a plane without anyone I knew. My destination, US, where my childhood friend Jack Hartman was waiting for me.
