Quinn Abenakyo’s reign is coming to an end but her contribution to the Miss Uganda fraternity can’t go without recognition. She’s arguably the most successful Miss Uganda ever since the pageant was started in 1967 and because of this success, the Busoga Kingdom through their King Kyabazinga William Wilberforce IV honored her over the weekend.

Abenakyo was awarded the source of the Nile medal for inspiring the young generation to believe in themselves. The King, while addressing his subjects at Igenge Palace in Jinja District where the event took place pledged to raise funds to tackle the escalating issues of child marriages and teenage pregnancies in the sub-region, adding that the campaign will be spearheaded by Ms Abenakyo.

The search for the next Miss Uganda is happening and the crowning ceremony is slated to take place on the 27th of July at Kampala Sheraton hotel and will be graced by Miss World Vanessa Ponce from Mexico. Abenakyo was the 3rd runners up in the Miss World competition and was also crowned Miss World Africa.
