Sudhir Ruparelia wins East Africa Book of Records Secretariat award

City tycoon, Sudhir Ruparelia is the winner of the East Africa Book of Records Secretariat award 2018 and has been described as Uganda’s business model.

Sudhir, who is the founder and Chairman of Ruparelia Group of Companies, was awarded at a colourful ceremony at Kabira Country Club in Kampala.

The head of the East Africa Book of Records Secretariat, Simon Kamau, told guests at the Award handover ceremony that Sudhir has inspired thousands of businesses in Uganda and he deserved the award.

“Dr Sudhir Ruparelia was voted the East African Business Leader of the year 2018 because his experience in Business Leadership has inspired many people in the East Africa,” he said.

“Great vision, trustworthiness and sincerity are the factors for the success of Sudhir,” Mr Kamau said.

The chief guest Captain Mike Mukula said that Sudhir has done quite a lot but the most prestigious was the 2007 Munyonyo Resort hosting of the Queen of England and the Commonwealth Heads of Governments.

“Munyonyo Resort Hotel, which belongs to Sudhir hosted the Queen of England and 53 Heads of States, during the 2007 Commonwealth Heads of Government (CHOGM) meeting, which pride is attributed to Sudhir’s business success,” Mr Mukula said.

Sudhir has invested in various income-generating business ventures including agro processing, hotels, insurance, banking, education and real estates development.

Mukula said that Crane Bank will live in the hearts of Ugandan People. Crane Forex Bureau was among earliest Forex Bureaus in Uganda which helped many Ugandans.

Sudhir flanked by his wife Joystna said the good business environment created by president Museveni has enabled him to succeed.
