Bebe Cool denies involvement in bazukulu walk

For close to two weeks, a poster of an alleged National Resistance Movement (NRM) supporters’ walk has been making rounds on social media. The catch to this event was that singer Bebe Cool was to be the chief walker, which event the poster says is to take place on September 27.

However the singer has come out to rubbish the poster saying he has no knowledge about this event that is reportedly supposed to be a gathering of all President Museveni’s bazukulu. Bazukulu, a Luganda word to mean grandchildren has of late been used by the President whenever he is addressing the younger generation.

“I would like to inform you that I don’t know this activity and am not part of it. Whoever came up with this artwork/Propaganda had very bad intention for my name/brand come this date,” Bebe Cool posted on social media.

He further stated that: “The intention is that come this date, there won’t be people since no one is organising it, so they can now do their propaganda that the NRM has no BAZUKULU/SUPPORT. BUT,thank you for the great idea.”

However, in a phone interview with sQoop, a one Irene Nabwire who claims to be an NRM cadre and one of the brains behind the bazukulu walk, the event is being organized by some NRM cadres and supporters who want to show that there is still love for Museveni in the country.

“We had planned to have a match but we have decided to cancel it for now because we want His Excellency to flag it off officially and the date is not yet agreed upon.”

She however blames one of her colleagues, a colleague whom she says uploaded the poster on his social media timeline before organization of the event was complete.

She however says that as far as she knows Bebe Cool was not supposed to be part of the walk and doesn’t not understand how he got on the poster.

“I knew nothing about Bebe Cool but it is my colleague who designed the poster. We had planned to have the walk but I honestly knew nothing about Bebe Cool,”

She however called upon the bazukulu to remain calm as the event will eventually take place with or without Bebe Cool.

“The official date will be communicated and we shall take a hot move because we love our President and we want to show love to Mzee. We want to show him that he still has bazukulu who trust and believe in his work and that we still want him to lead this country.”

She says that youths from the different regions in Uganda will be transported to Kampala.
