Bebe Cool asks fans to #FreeBebeCool

When singer Bebe Cool sang his song ‘Freedom,’ he probably did not envisage what is happening in the comment section of his Facebook page.

From the moment Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was arrested in Arua Last Week, a number of people on social media have pestered singer Bebe Cool to say something about the incident.

Bobi Wine was charged in a military court in Gulu last week with unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, after he was arrested in Arua, following clashes that climaxed the Municipality By-election campaigns.

It was until today afternoon that the first images of him were shared by the Uganda People’s Defense force spokesperson brig Richard Kalemire.

All the posts Bebe Cool put up on his Facebook page attracted comments like #FreeBobiWine.

As if provoking his already angry fans, on Saturday August 18, the singer posted, “Loading…”

The one word post garnered over 700 comments, majority of which were asking him to shut up or asking him to say something about the hashtag #FreeBobiWine.

Aggy Kafureeka commented, “this one word post will fetch million abuses from someone’s fanatics, instead of preparing themselves to match to Makindye barracks tomorrow.”

Indeed her guess was right.

Pope Citizo wrote, “Mukulu gundi I used to be your number one music fan but for now please with all due respect stop posting anything, we all as Ugandans tuli banyivu Oba oyagala okakasa damu otegeke cancer concert next week, what is happening in Uganda is bigger than a so called free music concert which is sponsored backstage with blood money.”

To this Bebe Cool responded, “#pope I think if you have brains in your skull, you have the answer you were looking for.”

However, not everyone was against him. Some fans commented in his defense.

“When Bebecool was shot I didn’t see Bobi Wine going to check on him but Bobi Wine fans are here shouting for us mbu Bebe shd feel sorry for him, every dog has its own day so its Bobi Wine’s time,” said Nakamya Mary

About 19 hours ago on his Instagram account, he finally posted a photo, whose caption explains his silence on the matter.

“Sometimes silence is GOLDEN, kyovolaba nsilikamu (that’s why I keep quiet sometimes),” a caption on his photo reads.

His caption however did not save the situation. Fans bashed him.

On his Facebook page, his changed his profile photo to one where he was talking to President Museveni, at his recent Golden Hearts Concert at Kololo.

He however was the first to comment on his own picture, and with the hashtag #FreeBebeCool
