For a very long time Ugandans showcased their pride and joy on hearing that their own boy, Ykee Benda, would be performing at the World Cup opening ceremony in Russia. Ykee Benda was expected to perform alongside American singer Jason Derulo since they did the World Cup song, Colours, together.
A few days to the World Cup, Ykee Benda recorded an audio saying he was not performing at the World Cup but he would watch the games. But to our surprise, the singer is still walking the streets of Kampala.
Anyhow, we have gathered that the reason Ykee Benda did not perform or travel to Russia was because the organisers dropped Jason Derulo from the performers’ list. However, if it is consolation enough, Benda was given a ticket to watch the final game.
