Ugandan youth unveil MTV Shuga Season Six in Kampala

Africa’s most popular Drama known as MTV Shuga was launched last evening at Sky Lounge courtesy of Reach A Hand Uganda. For starters, Reach A Hand Uganda is Reach A Hand Uganda (RAHU) is a youth led non-profit organization focused on youth empowerment programs with an emphasis on Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.

The 6th season of the drama series was shot in Nigeria and it was dubbed MTV Shuga Naija. This particular season talks about stories that speak to young generation in Africa about safe sex, family planning, peer pressure, domestic and sexual violence as well as use of contraceptives, among others.

Unlike the previous editions, this year’s edition was premiered in a silent disco where by every guest who was on invite was provided with head phones as they witness the launch of the 6th season of Shuga.

Shortly before the silent screening of the first episode of season 6, a panel discussion was held on the HIV/AIDS situation in Uganda. It had key people in the HIV/AIDS awareness spectrum and these were; Duncan Musumba (Head of Marketing, Uganda Health Marketing Group), Barbara Kemigisa (Founder, Pill Power Uganda), Kuraish Mubiru (Executive Director, Uganda Young Positives), Jaliah Nalubwama (Peer Educator at Reach A Hand Uganda) and Emmanuel Ikubese (lead actor in MTV Shuga season 5).

The drama series will be airing every Wednesday at 8:00 PM on NBS Television (DSTV- 286, GOtv- 94) and on SautiPlus TV every Thursday at 8:00 PM.
