Fille comes of age with maiden concert

Fille concert

Fille performing during her Alter Ago concert at Golf Course Hotel in Kampala

Besides the death of Mowzey Radio recently, 2018 has been good to Ugandan musicians this year.
Good in the sense that no artiste has registered a concert flop yet. Even artistes whose concerts were expected to flop surprisingly have had nice shows.
Among those was Fille Mutoni, an RnB singer who registered a successful concert on Saturday evening at Golf Course Hotel.
The venue is not an easy one to pull off. It’s only Dj Diplo, SlickStuart and Roja who have filled it before but Fille became the 3rd person to do so with her ‘Alter ego’ concert.
With a combination of good sound and lighting from silk events, Fille was backed by a live band even though many thought she could not manage a live performance.

Emerging from backstage at 9.30pm, clad in a pink wedding gown with her daughter also in the same outfit, Fille kicked off her performance with a gospel track titled I wanna know you. This paved way for other songs such as Batuwulila, Kumbaya, Nakupenda and Mpola mpola during her first session which lasted 40 minutes.
Immediately she had left the stage, musicians B2C took over and were followed by Exodus, Ray Signature, Rabadaba, Winnie Nwagi and Maro before SlickStuart and Roja drove the crowd wild with their deejaying skills.
Before Fille returned for her second session, people got worried that she wouldn’t come back because of time. It was ten minutes to midnight and according to the KCCA rules, no event is supposed to go past 12am.

However Golf course is an indoor venue which makes the rules inapplicable. Fille was back clad in a black suit with shorts and did songs like Jaribu, What did you do, and Double trouble among others.
As the crowd was about to leave the venue, Bebe Cool came on stage. This was the climax of the show for many. He did Katono, Mbonzi Zamalwa and sampled his new song Want it. The hunger he had left in the audience was saved by A Pass who came to perform soon after. However, to everyone’s surprise, A Pass did not sing as expected but just danced to his new song Dida dada. Even before the song ended, he put the microphone down and walked away which left the crowd wondering what he was up to exactly.
Fille returned for her last session in a body costume and did tracks like I need you, ‘Mbera eno and Akatijjo with Babarita.
