I started the ‘big booty movement’ – Coco

Ice-T’s curvaceous wife, Coco Austin has come out to say that all big booty women, especially celebrities, should be thankful to her as she paved the way for their acceptance into the limelight.

In a social media post Coco – a former lingerie model – bragged about having started the big booty movement way before Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj and Beyoncé learnt to walk.

“I helped pave the way for thick girls, during the skinny genre, to be noticed as beautiful. (This was the Kate Moss era where the waif look was in). This was back before social media when magazines were popping, back before Kim Kardashian, Nicki Minaj..(I mention them because young people see pop culture as the history makers but they need to know it started somewhere before them, this was also back before the plastic surgery craze,” she wrote.

The former video vixen stated that history needs to credit her for her hard work in promoting body positive messages that have seen plus size models models like Ashley Graham walk on some of the biggest run ways in the fashion industry. Last year Rihanna sent shock waves to her followers over her weight gain but unlike in the past, she was applauded for her new ample bottom.

“To have booty, it was considered to be fat in the modeling world.. But I helped changed the minds of what booty was. Today it’s a normal thing to see all different shapes and sizes, no one even thinks about it anymore. I helped history..I don’t want to toss it aside like it was nothing…I’d like to think some of my modeling was meaningful… After tons of calendars, DVD’s over 100 magazine covers and editorials I’m still standing. Thank you for all years of support. Power to the booty and strong healthy women!” Coco posted.

The California native has since received major backlash over her post as many felt the big booty movement should be attributed to black American women who are well known for their ample derrieres.

“Sis, you paved the way for white women to get plastic surgery,” one dissenter commented on Coco’s post.

While the mother of one gave shout outs to contemporaries Jennifer Lopez and Anna Nicole Smith for “making waves with the derriere phenomenon,” many critics in Coco’s comment section feel she should have also given credit to her plastic surgeon.

Another follower echoed the above sentiments saying, “We the black men in America and worldwide never consider this woman as thick or have a phat ass. We know it’s fake. We would never in our life let you think you ever paved a way for any thick booty chick.”

In response to the backlash, Coco said that her post was not about race as some people tried to make it look like.

“Let me remind you 20 years ago there were not a lot of white girls with thick bodies in the modeling game. They didn’t consider my body type as the standard therefore It was harder to work in the industry. I was one of the 1st white models to break the mold & go mainstream with my body type and to let people know it’s OK to be curvy in the modeling world. Today curvy is the norm but when I first started out it wasn’t,” she wrote.

Meanwhile Ugandans are only wishing Coco could come to Uganda and have a look at Winnie Nwagi and Desire Luzinda’s booties.
