Countless newlyweds have chosen Ed Sheeran’s ballad, “Thinking Out Loud,” to play during their first dance. Now, the British singer-songwriter gets to decide if he wants it played at his own wedding.
The 26-year-old recently announced that he and his longtime girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn, are engaged.
“Got myself a fiancé just before new year,” Sheeran wrote on social media. “We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”
Sheeran has reportedly said that he’s known Seaborn since they were children but they didn’t start dating until he invited her to Taylor Swift’s Fourth of July party in 2015.
In the post, he reveals that he had proposed to Cherry Seaborn over the Christmas holiday but the couple had kept it secret till he came out with the public announcement.
Who is Cherry Seaborn?
British Cherry met Ed Sheeran at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk, where the crooner is believed to have had a crush on his classmate.
The pair finished their secondary education there.
Cherry then attended Duke University, which is located in Durham, North Carolina.
After months of dealing with a long distance relationship with Sheeran, the 24-year-old had moved back to the UK from the US to be with the Perfect singer.
During her time in the States, Cherry impressed her peers with her incredible hockey ability.
She even led her hockey team to back-to-back British University championships in 2012 and 2013.
It’s believed that the couple have been in a relationship since 2015 though they were pictured kissing for the first time in 2016 at a Taylor Swift party.
The couple is now living together and have pet cats to parent.
