He might have left the entertainment industry but Rubaga South MP Kato Lubwama has not stopped caring about the industry that brought him to the limelight.
The comedian/politician is bothered by the current trends in the music industry which he says have mostly been bought about by the new crop of artistes.
During an interview with Spark TV, he said Ugandan music is losing quality and value due to greed in the industry and artistes he calls masqueraders.

“There is a lot of greed in the music industry in Uganda. The music we have now can’t last. The musician wants to do everything. He wants to be the one to write the song and when he gets a writer, he/she doesn’t mention him or give them credit. He/she does the same for the producer, promoter etc.,” he said.
Fik Fameica has been bashed by Kato Lubwama.
He went ahead to give examples of songs he thinks have been made popular by radios and television stations even when they did not deserve to be played. “There are many masqueraders in the industry that have been made by the Radios and TVs. Songs like Kutama and Byenyenya (both by Fik Fameica) just can’t work for long. They have obscene words and that is all they sale.”

The comedian adds that even musicians who used to sing good music have begun releasing bubble gum music just so they can fit in.
This comes just a few weeks since singer Chris Evans also complained about the current crop of artistes.
