For three days last week, fashion lovers were treated to high level fashion design, trends, jewellery and embroidery courtesy of Kampala Fashion Week (KFW).
The fourth edition took place at Kampala Forest Resort, a scenic lush location in Muyenga Hill.
September 28 was an invite-only showcase organised by the Skilled Expressive Entrepreneurial Design (SEED) fashion show in collaboration with designer, Ras Kasozi of Kas Wear.
The SEED show which aims at mentoring upcoming young designers gives a platform for the creative inventors to showcase their different designs before a winner is finally announced by a panel of judges.

Joan Nakigudde, 24, emerged as the overall winner among the upcoming designers at this year’s event. During an interview after the show, she thanked the organisers for recognising her efforts.
“I am so grateful that they appreciated my work. I am grateful,” Nakigudde said.
The SEED show project is now running for the fourth year.
Meanwhile the 29 and 30 showcases included upcoming and already established designers such as Olivia Nanfuka of NFKA, Ras Kasozi of Kas Wear, Say-Manda, Eguana Kampala and Thandi, Katungulu Mwenda, Bayimba Capsule Collection, Catherine and Sons, Nadrey Laurent, Gloria Wavamunno and Helena, among others.

The outfits were showcased by models of different ethnic backgrounds, both male and female.
Every designer’s collection had a unique feature to it. For instance, it was interesting to see that the Cirra-Sue collection had a mixture of unusual fabric combinations including recycled car tyres while the Halisi collection effortlessly fused an unconventional sense of African heritage. The models’ hair was styled by Kennedy Zziwa of Hair by Zziwa.
During the 2016 KFW show, the winner of Africa’s Next Top Model, Aamito Stacey headlined the show but this time round, she was absent from the event.
Unlike most of other local fashion shows, KFW has set its self apart because of great production, stage setup and time management.
