Singer Rema’s song titled Banyabo might not be a hit song but it has helped her reach to different kinds of people, especially women in Uganda. As you read this, Rema was at Kabimbiri in Mukono District yesterday together with Itel, a telecom company which she was recently signed to as a brand ambassador.
Rema’s visit to Mukono was to donate items to Mariam Nabatanzi, a mother of 38 who is taking care of the children solely yet she has no job. A few months ago, Nabatanzi’s story was published in Daily Monitor and since then, many corporate companies, individuals both local and international have been running to her aid.
Among the items the singer took to the woman was money, food stuff and clothing for her and the children. Meanwhile, an online fundraising campaign started by a Nigerian aimed to raise Shs30m is also underway and so far, Shs25m has been raised by people who have read her story online and were touched.
