SINGER BENEZERI QUITS MUSIC

Benezeri Wanjala Chibita

Gospel rapper Benezeri, real names Benezeri Wanjala Chibita has quit the music industry.

The gospel artiste who was undoubtedly gaining ground in the gospel music circles took to his Facebook page and wrote a very long post where he revealed that he has got a conviction that has made him bow out of the art.

“I’ve succumbed to a strong conviction to honorably bow out of the art that I’ve devoted the last 10 years of my life to. It definitely hasn’t been an easy decision to make but for the last 4 months it’s been heavy on my heart and this morning, I once again failed to complete my night’s rest because of this conviction. Living in a foreign town, without a smartphone has allowed God to speak to me clearly in the silence, once again, I’ve reached a crossroads in my life and He is pointing me into this direction,” read  part of his post.

Benezeri went ahead to thank his parents Mike Chibita  who is the Director of Public Prosecutions in Uganda and his mother Monica Chibita (Head of the Mass Communications Department at Uganda Christian University, Mukono) for the support they rendered to him.

“I’d like to thank my parents and siblings who have supported me morally every step of the way. You’ve attended all my shows, listened to my dreams and closed your eyes and ears to the unkind world concerning the life I chose. Mummy, you were my biggest fan, you spread my songs to all your friends and congratulated me upon each song and video. Your best songs were Ndiwabulijjo, Mama, Abeyo and so many others. Daddy, you let me be. You invited me to perform at your book launch. You cancelled flights to attend my shows and when you travelled you showed my videos to your friends,” he said.

The Ndiwabulijjo singer’s post shocked a number of people as many demanded to know the reason why he had opted to quit the music industry where he was gaining good momentum.

“ Benezeri no, you can’t leave, you are one of those special rappers in this land,” posted  Isaac Kalule.

Navuga Kezia said that Benezeri’s post was too emotional “This is the most emotional thing I’ve read this month but whatever you have chosen to do, may God be your overall seer and planner, may he give you his guidance every day, keep being the light you have always been,” she said.

Benezeri did not disclose what God has called him to do, but we hope it is one of great things.
