Swahili Nation get cold reception at “winter” concert

whatsapp-image-2016-12-24-at-13-20-19With just a few days to Christmas, Ugandans have been going for whichever event is happening in town. This is perhaps because the mood to work has gone and will come back after the New Year. Thursday evening saw hordes of people storming The Square, a new events venue located in Industrial Area. All this was in the name of attending the Castle-Lite Winter Wonderland Concert which was headlined by Swahili Nation, a three-men singing group.

The show required all revelers to wear white since the theme was in form of a winter setting (we will not comment on that). The event kicked off with two DJs engaging the crowd. DJ Dash was on top of the Castle Lite Extra cold truck, and set the mood for the revelers as he played music for them as they took the stairs up to the fourth floor where the event was happening.

On the fourth floor which was also the roof top, the main space for the event, was DJ Crisio who had the crowd dancing to his tunes. It was a few minutes past midnight when the Swahili Nation took to the stage. It was evident that only a few people knew the group because they looked lost throughout their performance. Some were overheard whispering to their friends how the singers were boring. “These guys’ music is boring, they can’t even leave the stage,” some said.

Swahili Nation performed songs like Malaika, Nyama, and Hakuna Matata among others. Even when the crowd seemed un bothered, they kept the concert conversational as they kept on asking how the crowd was feeling and how they were so happy to be back home. The show ended at around a few minutes past 1am.
