The vampires and Lycan clans have been fighting for years, making the dark world a battle field. They will stop at nothing to prove to one another that each is stronger.
At the midst of the fight is Selene, who is not trusted by both groups who were once her allies but turned traitors. She is the common enemy and she will have to do everything in her power to fight off their brutal attacks.
To be able to fight, Selena needs new allies who she gets in Thomas and his son David. They are not enough. She will have to sacrifice something precious to her.
The movie opens with tensed up Selene, played by Kate Beckinsale, who is disturbed by the continuous wars. For a while, she is unwilling to go back to war with her former allies but occasional provocation by the new leader of the Lycan leader called Marius leaves her no choice but to go to war.
Marius is motivated by the fact that he is thirsty for her blood, and one Eve and he will therefore do anything to taste her blood which enables him gain a unique power.
Fortunately or unfortunately, it is not only Marius looking to suck the blood out of Selene and Eve. Vampire leader, Semira, is also thirsty for some blood from the two ladies.
The movie is the fourth installment of the Underworld franchise. You will appreciate a display of fighting skills, mostly acrobatic, fused with underworld witchcraft that will showcase drinking of blood, flying in the air, disappearing acts and more for your entertainment.
Lead actress Beckinsale has starred in Contraband, Total Recall Love & Friendship, among others. The film was originally titled Underworld: Next Generation. The name was changed before release.
The movie director, Foerster, is a German-born American cinematographer, who is billed for other works such as 1996 fiction film Independence Day 2000 film The Patriot. Rotten Tomatoes, a movie aggregator, has given the movie 97 per cent.
