Ziza Bafana clears air on Bugiri shooting

One major problem event organisers and artistes face at events is rowdy fans and this normally happens when something goes wrong, especially when they have paid entrance fees.
The issues revolve around poor sound system, boring stage performances and importantly if the show headliner fails to turn up for the event.
The latest chaos erupted in Bugiri last Sunday and unlike other events where revellers break chairs and vandalise music systems, the chaos in Bugiri claimed two lives. The two were shot dead by a police officer who tried to calm down the chaos.
The unidentified revellers were shot at Jojo’s Night Club in Bugiri where they had gone to attend a concert which was meant to be headlined by dancehall Singer Ziza Bafana. According to sources, the events MC kept bringing curtain raisers on stage, withough Ziza Bafana showing up on stage. The revellers waited a little more but they couldn’t take it any longer hence breaking into chaos while demanding a refund of their Shs5,000.
Ziza Bafana, who called a press conference at Calendar Guest House in Makindye, blamed the incident on promoters who take artistes for granted. “The promoter who had offered to pay Shs2m for me to perform at his show deposited Shs500,000 and failed to pay the rest as agreed. He told us to go to Bugiri where we would find the balance,” Bafana said, adding that he informed the promoter that he wouldn’t leave Kampala before receiving at least half of the payment.
The promoter, however, instead told the revellers that Bafana would be performing at the club.
