According to Mr. Phillip Mukasa, the police spokesperson for Katonga region, the robbers attacked Mr Geoffrey Lutaaya, his wife Irene Namatovu (Da new eagles’ bosses) and other three group members with an AK-47 machine gun and a baton at around 3 am on Thursday night.

“Yes, it is true that these artists were robbed and were left undressed on a gun point but police is investigating the matter and soon, we shall get the culprits,” he confirmed to Daily Monitor in a telephone interview on Friday morning.

Ms Betinah Namukasa, the ‘ompalula’ hit singer, also an artist in the group told us that, they were heading back to Kampala, from Kanoni town in Gomba district where they had held a music show.

“Our mzee (Lutaaya) and mummy (Namatovu) had left us behind in Kanoni by the time of robbery but we got information that they were not injured because they complied with the commands of the robbers,” Ms Namukasa said.

Mr Mukasa said valuables worth millions were taken by the robbers including Irene’s car, a Toyota Alpha registration number UAY 544 Q which is silver in colour, cash worth shs1.5million and three mobile phones. Our efforts to speak to Mr Lutaaya or his wife were futile as they coul not pick repeated calls raised to them by our correspondent.
