Da New Eagles music group members and celebrity couple Geoffrey Lutaaya and Irene Namatovu got back their car on Wednesday at Central Police Station (CPS) in Kampala. The car which was officially handed to them by Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango was stolen last week by armed robbers in Butambala, Mpigi District.

The two, together with three other group members were coming from Mpigi District where they had been booked for a musical performance but later met the armed robbers at 3am in the morning.

According to the Police Spokesperson Patrick Onyango, the car was found in a garage somewhere in Iganga ready to be sprayed in order to change its look. “We were too fast, and deployed our crime preventers in different districts to search for the Toyota Alphard type of car with Registration number UAY 544Q and thank God we found it,” Onyango said.
Singer Geoffrey Lutaaya thanked Police and social media users for retrieving back his car. “As police was busy searching for our car, social media was awash of photos of the stolen car which perhaps intimidated the robbers in a way that they had to park it somewhere rather than driving it around,” Lutaaya said.
