Rwenzori region gets the first ever Miss Tourism queen

Miss tourism

Ever since the Miss Tourism Uganda Pageant was launched in 2013, it has been holding regional searches in different districts but because of some reasons, a few regions had never gotten the chance to see the search in their area.

Among these regions was Rwenzori region, until last weekend. On Saturday, it had the honour of being the second region to be visited in the search for this year’s Miss Tourism Uganda. The first ever Miss Tourism event in the area took place in Kasese at Trans African Gardens and this saw 19-year-old Daphine Kajumba Biira crowned Miss Tourism Rwenzori. The 2nd runner up was Hope Doreen Masika and Patricia Akampulira was crowned 1st runner up.

The 10 contenders in the search were given different tasks by the judges and among these was coming up with creative wear. The however were not original in this task’ most contestants came up with attire that has been done in various pageants before such as that made out of music CDs, polythene bags, and skins and hides among others.

The next search will be in Masindi District for the search of Miss Tourism Bunyoro.

After the search in the 12 different regions, the grand finale will take place on September 20 at Hotel Africana where Miss Tourism Uganda 2016/2017 will be crowned.
