Just when everyone thought Winnie Nwangi had become Swangz Avenue’s new love, Irene Ntale broke off her musical hibernation with Sembera, a few months ago, and the song has gradually claimed airwaves and topped charts of local media. Like nector oozing out of wet petals, Irene Ntale’s sweet voice tickles the soul on this charming tune. Sembera means come closer in English and it is braced with a mature sound for listeners who love to hear heart warming lyrics.
The jam opens with rather love-struck chants, saying “boy come closer, you know that I need ya…” lines that seem to usher a rather carefree song, however, this is not a skittish Irene Ntale song. Written by Radio of the Goodlyfe crew, Irene Ntale must have put a smile on his face as she did justice to his pen and paper, putting all her strong vocals, provoking listeners into illusion mood. This is progressive touch that has sprouted off her famous tracks such as Gwe Aliko, Gyobera, among others, keeping her fans yearning for more.
Sembera is blend of classical Ugandan pop with the new RnB titbits that can best be experienced on a live band. The instrumental has pulses of a drum and guitar strings. Irene sings in colourful diction about her lover whom she wants closer to her. The message is this song is a celebration of love. Irene Ntale has managed to shock fans even when they have expected her to have died out. After listening to this jam, all one can say is cheers Irene.
