This is an Andriod app that has been designed to facillitate communication between people on the autism spectrum or with other communication disabilities and their caregivers. It is a symbol-based tool for children and adults alike which predicts the next symbol based on their past use. SwiftKey Symbols is based on symbol-based assistive communication and powered by SwiftKey’s prediction technology.
SwiftKey symbols learns from the user in order to predict the symbol they are most likely to want next, saving time and helping children with learning difficulties to communicate faster and more easily.
This app favours mainly children to develop faster since it relies on pictograms that they relate with constantly and as a result they learn words that connect with the respective pictures.
Swiftkey symbols application was built during one of SwiftKey’s innovation weeks and is being installed free on the various app stores. The main features that enable execution are Symbol sentence builder and next symbol prediction, audio playback, add custom photos as categories or individual symbols, day and time specific predictions and runs on both iOS and Android smartphones and tablets.
The good
-Enables non verbal communication
-Pictograms are numerous

The bad
-Might not be favourable for adults.
