Sisters, Maura (Poehler) and Kate (Fey) go back to their childhood home to grudgingly get it ready for sale. As they go through their childhood belongings, it is inevitable that they start reminiscing on the escapades they had in their younger years. This reminiscing makes them realise that while Kate was all about having a good time, Maura was very tame. That is when Kate comes up with the brilliant idea of having one last party at the house where Maura can make up for lost time. The goings-on of the party make up three-quarters of the plot Sisters.

As far as comedies go, Sisters will definitely get you laughing. Fey and Poehler have become a dynamic duo in dishing out dry wit. They have a way of delivering the most hilarious lines deadpan that you cannot help but bawl over with laughter. Mix that with the absolute silliness that goes on during the party –spoiler alert; it is one wild party. This comedy, however, is the kind you can only enjoy if you don’t have your serious brain on. Also, there is a lot of offensive language thrown around so not everyone may warm up to it.

The other strong point of the movie is the cast. Poehler and Fey may look nothing like sisters but they have that vibe about them that makes it easy for you to see them growing up under the same roof.
Another thing about the cast is the absurdity of some of their characters –look out for John Cena, and you’ll get what I’m talking about. The cast also has the likes of James Brolin, Dianne Wiest, plus Fey and Poehler’s Saturday Night Live buddies, Maya Rudolph, Rachel Dratch, and Paula Pell who wrote the movie’s script. However, some people who have watched the movie felt that they were underutilised. I believe they each played their role perfectly but watch the movie and be the judge.

If you want a good laugh with your friends and have the sense of humour that stops you from being easily offended, you will enjoy Sisters. If, however, only clean jokes tickle you funny, watch this only when you are not in overthinking mode.
