Hi Table owner drags landlord to court as bar closes shop

hi5

Ladies and gentlemen we would like to announce that the Kampala Road- based Hi Table bar is no more. Yes, the hangout closed shop earlier this month.
Well, the former Hi Table bar owner Simon Rusoke told us that the location was no longer good for business. Rusoke also told us that the landlord, Moses Kalungi, younger brother to tycoon Godfrey Kirumira, was becoming more unreliable and unrealistic with unannounced rent increments.
“He would come and drink and say deduct the money off the rent, but at the end of the month, his people would want full payment,” Rusoke told us about his former landlord.
Rusoke is bitter and he says it is not just because of the drinks Kalungi consumed, but apparently after serving him with a three-month notice indicating that he will be vacating the premises, Kalungi went ahead and confiscated his bar property. Rusoke told us that he dragged Kalungi to court under civil suit 1376 and he is determined to go all the way to get justice. “The man is very vulgar and disrespectful. He said I have rent arrears, but I have up-to-date receipts that show I paid for every single day I spent at his premises,” Simon said. Kalungi’s phones went unanswered.
