Like soccer, Formula 1 is an international sport that is enjoyed by many in Uganda.
And on November 29, five lucky winners from Uganda will have a chance to watch the final race of the Formula 1 season. They will be in United Arab Emirates for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and will tour the Ferrari World theme park, courtesy of Vivo Energy.
Now in its seventh year, the F1 race is Middle East’s biggest and standout sporting event that offers all visitors a social and motor sport experience.
Bigger this year, the Yas Marina Circuit will host GP2 and GP3 as curtain-raising races for 2015’s final race of the season. The circuit features a 60-metre solar powered Shams Tower and a pit lane, which sees the cars run through a tunnel passing under the track. It will also feature, among other things, concerts and performances by major international artists.
The Uganda winners leave for Abu Dhabi on November 27 and return on November 30.
This is the climax of a seven-month-long promotion to engage members of the Shell V-Power Club that was formed and launched in April 2015 at the Fast & Furious 7 movie premiere in Kampala. The club was created to reward members based on a monthly points system as exclusive rewards, thus the grand prize of a fully paid trip to Abu Dhabi.
Vivo Energy managing director Hans Paulsen hailed the customers for being loyal.
“This is not the end of such exciting promotions,” he said, adding that the next programme will have more exciting rewards.
