Following dream: Faith Muwanguzi has always had a passion for art, and in 2014 she decided to make money out of art. Today most celebrities are her clients.

What do you do?
I do make up.

When did you start making up artistes?
In 2013 but commercially, I started in 2014 during my last year at university.

Why did you choose this profession?
I was born an artist but I gained my skills from my love and passion for art. What most people do not know is that makeup is art. Let’s just say I took up the profession because I believed in my talent.

Which celebrities have you worked on?
Hellen Lukoma, Natasha Sinayobe, Abryanz, former Miss Uganda Stella Nantumbwe, Nickita Bachu and many others. But I work more on brides.

What is good about this job?
I love that it is very flexible. I work in the field, so it comes with a lot of travelling privileges. In a good week, I can earn as much as other people earn in a month, but most importantly, I have made useful connections.

Talking of earnings, what are your charges?
My charges depend on the type of make-up I do. I can share my price card privately, if contacted.

What challenges do you face doing this job?
Since I offer mobile services, some client’s locations are not easily accessible. The competition is also so high at the moment. There are many make-up artists lately, so one has to be creative to keep up with the heat.

What kinds of makeup do you use?
I use various brands since I work with various people, but my kit has Mac bobby brown, sleek, milani cosmetics, Anastasia of Beverly Hills, and Black Radiance, among others.

When does one need make-up?
When going for a wedding, photoshoot, runway, private parties, and public appearances.

How much time do you spend working on a person?
Between 30 minutes and an hour, depending on the type of look my client is going for. A dramatic look takes longer than a simple look.

What inspired you to do this job?
The love and passion for art. Initially, my career was art-related, so executing my work came easy.

What advice would you give someone who wants to do the same thing?
They should be passionate about makeup, dedicated and persistent.
Good communication skills are also important as well as networking with already existing makeup artists because it helps one gain experience.

How can someone contact you in case they need your services?
My business number is 0701628322 but you can also visit me on faithmuwa24@gmail.com or reach me on other social media platforms faythpresh on Facebook, faythpresh on Instagram and faithmuwa24 on Twitter.
