The oversized coat: This week’s morning rain has been a tad frustrating. Well, if you had something to keep you warm to the knees, then maybe the smartness would bring some consolation.
Last weekend turned out to be a fashion bonanza around Kampala, from the Kampala Fashion Week to Mavuno Yetu. So today’s trend is something I picked off the runway at t fashion week and it made an appearance in a number of designers’ showcases, including Kwesh.
The oversized coat is the season’s must have accessory and with the right styling technique, this coat can turn your look around, for the better.
The coats work well with jeans and a tee, or shorts and a vest. The coat is a favourite of many fashion bloggers and even reality TV queen, Kim Kardashian hardly steps out without this coat.
To have a chic look, try throwing on the coat without necessarily placing your arms into the sleeves and then add a small clutch or tote to complete your look.
The catch points when going for this coat is the colour. Carmel, black, grey and white are my personal favourites. And that is because these shades are not only neutral but are also easy to blend.
Also choose the fabric depending on where you are wearing the coat to, and what the weather looks like.
The heavy and woolen ones work well for airport style, when you are travelling. The lighter coats on the other hand will be easy to keep on even when the sun comes out.
The last thing you need to be cautious of is the length of your coat. If you are a small structured individual, then you might want to keep your coat just below your knees so that you do not appear to be dwarfed by the coat.
And do keep in mind that there is an option of having the coat sleeveless.
