Anne Kansiime, Eddy Kenzo bag more accolades

Both Eddy Kenzo and Anne Kansiime have spent most of the past month swinging between Europe and America. Unlike several local entertainers that only perform before small Ugandan audiences, Kansiime and Kenzo keep flying the Ugandan flag high as they perform before huge mixed nationality audiences wherever they go. Last weekend, Kansiime co-hosted the AFRIMMA awards alongside Nigerian and continental comedy star Basket Mouth in Dallas, Texas US.
And as she was planning her next show, the bubbly comic received a call that she had won a big award- an African equivalent of the Oscars. Kansiime was declared the winner of the Favourite Comedian Award in the prestigious Nollywood and African Film Critics Awards (NAFCA), also dubbed the African Oscars.
According to Kansiime; “the ‘Africa Oscars” aka NAFCA are designed to globally promote African cinema and culture. They awards are considered the highest internationally recognised prestigious African awards in Hollywood.”
On the other hand, Kenzo, also currently in the US, received his accolade for Best African Act that he won at the just concluded 10th edition of the Annual Nigeria Entertainment Awards (The NEAs). Although held over a month back, Kenzo only managed to receive his accolade over the weekend.
