Date with a celeb : Fan discovers Talha’s big heart and passion

tal

Mission ambition: He hosts Ambition Mission radio shows, does Spotlight on UBC TV on Saturdays and he is also into farming. Uthuman Talha talked to his fan Maria Naava about his life and how he became an Ambition Mission ambassador.

How would you describe yourself?
Talha simply means an intelligent, hardworking, prayerful and humble man.

Is it your real name?
Yes it is. I am called Uthuman Talha.

I have seen you in many projects. What exactly do you do?
Well, I like juggling so many things because I believe this is the only time I have to achieve all I want in life. I do TV, radio, farming, emceeing, real estate, events and recently, I started doing inspirational talks.

How old are you?
I will turn 22 years soon.

Where do you get the time to do all that?
I create the time. A day has 24 hours. Just imagine what you can do in all those hours. Some of the things I do not do daily. Some happen over the weekend while I do the rest on a weekly basis. I just divide and plan the hours to fit in what I want to do. I prioritise.

It seems you earn well. What do you do with your money?
I pay school fees for some people, look after myself, put food on the table, and I am building a legacy for myself.

Do you still live with your parents?
I started living alone when I was 17 years old.

How far did you go with school?
I did high school at Namilyango College, and then did a course in forex exchange, which I have invested in for the last three years. I have also done a course in Agriculture for seven months.

How did you join Ambition Mission and what is your role?
Ambition Mission is a community of youth who believe in themselves and share the same mission of staying clear of tobacco. I am there to reach out to that innocent soul who thinks smoking is cool and smoking shisha is the way to go these days.

Recently, there was rumour that Ambition Mission ambassadors are Illuminati. How true are these allegations?
It is good you have said it is a rumour. I think journalists should invest more time in research because most of these youth read and believe what they see and listen to. Misleading them only makes the situation worse. We have been running this campaign for a year and most of us are believers. I personally believe and serve Allah.

Are you a music fan?
Yes. I listen to a lot of music. My car is like a club itself. I listen to a lot of Jay Z, Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, Kendrick Lamar, Ace Hood and I am a huge fan of Jose Chameleone.

Are the children you pay school fees for in anyway related to you?
Only two are related to me. The other four are not, and the number will keep growing.

Where did you get that philanthropic heart?
I do it because I have been there. I grew up with my mum. She raised seven children and I am among the last children. Most of the time we did not have the basic needs. We had food but I was among the children that were always sent home for school fees. But besides that, I care about other people’s happiness.

Are you in a relationship?
I am happily dating and I have been in love for a long time.

What is your memorable moment in life?
Transforming my life in 2004, from the worst child to the best. I give credit to my teacher, Mr Charles Masuuka.
