Hustler : Abdu Kaddu

hustle

While social media is a form of entertainment for most people, Kaddu looked at it as a business opportunity.

What is the name of your business and when did you start it?
It’s called 24 Media. It was registered and incorporated in October 2014.

What does 24 Media do?
We deal in social media management, online marketing and public relations for individuals and companies. We basically market clients’ services or products on social media and on websites. We also do media buying and planning.

Why would you pick an interest in public relations management?
It is because public figures and companies cannot do without PR. Having a good product or providing good service requires a good PR message to convince and attract your market.

Who are some of your clients?
Viva Compliance Technologies, several Members of Parliament and other politicians, Runis Media, Gagamel International, Go Girl Africa and Mihasesu International.

Where are you offices located?
We are at the Oasis Mall basement, on Yusuf Lule Road

How have you benefited from this business?
This business has increased my social capital. I have managed to meet all kinds of people from different walks of life. I’m often invited to inspire fellow youths who are learning how to become entrepreneurs.

And what are the challenges you are facing?
My business is based online and sometimes Internet connectivity is not available in some areas. Some times clients do not fulfil payment obligations. Also, capital to acquire equipment such as computers and materials like branded items is not available. Also, due to ignorance by clients on issues pertaining to social media marketing, I have a lot of work to do in convincing them to take on certain products. Most clients do not realise that social media is really a marketing tool.

Did you study to do this kind of business?
Yes, but surprisingly I have never studied public relations or marketing from a class. I don’t have a degree or certificate but rather self-disciplined learning with the use of Internet materials and watching PR/marketing DVDs.
