Four One One

Rihanna coming this December

Promoter Suudi Lukwago had better not take us for a ride on this one. Yes, the Suudiman boss has confided in us that he is almost done with negotiations for American diva Rihanna to perform in Kampala. “I should say all is done. I am just working on a few things like venue and sponsorship, but the date is booked and Rihanna is ready to rock Kampala,” Suudi told us earlier this week.
But we couldn’t have penned the story without asking Suudi about some other artistes he has promised to bring in the past, and it all ended at that- promising! “Why shouldn’t we regard this as another of the empty promises similar to the previous story of flying in Chris Brown?” we asked him.
“I have never failed to fly in Chris Brown. He is very easy for me to get. But I chose to back out because I wasn’t sure that by the time of the concert, he would be out of jail. He is not a very safe bet; he is in and out of jail for the better part of the year. Live Nation sued him for $8m (about Shs25.6b), I wouldn’t want to be in their shoes,” Suudi defended himself.
“But I wanna make it known; let no promoter think about putting anything on December 4. Rihanna is gonna be rocking Kampala on that day. I’m in talks with KCCA and the National Council of Sports to see the viability of holding the show at Lugogo Cricket Oval, because it’s the best odd so far,” Suudi told us.
Born Robyn Rihanna Fenty in the Barbados parish of Saint Michael in 1988, the 27-year old diva has several awards to her name. Rihanna’s bold sense of fashion has left many in awe and it has won her millions of young fans across the globe. By press time, Rihanna’s trip to Kampala was not yet included on her tour section on her official site www.rihannanow.com, but Suudi was quick to indicate that “it’s just a matter of time!”
