Dear Irene Ntale fans, we bring you some sad news; the debut Irene Ntale Nzena Nzena concert that was scheduled for August 28, has been postponed.
“We have decided to push the concert to a later date due to constraints on the part of some of our partners around that particular date. We have mutually agreed to rework our calendar,”said Swangz Avenue’s Benon Mugumbya. However, we found Benon’s explanation lacking on detail, especially after we had gathered that they ( Swangz Avenue- Irene’s management) had met with the organisers of the Busy Signal Vs Konshens concert is slated for the same date. Sources told us that the organisers held a meeting with Irene’s management along with one of the major sponsors of both events and reached an agreement to postpone one show.
Benon later agreed that there was a meeting but he refused to get into details. “They approached us and requested us to push Irene’s concert, we were a bit hesitant but after thorough consultations, we decided to postpone it for the good of the entertainment industry,” Benon said. He added that a new date for the show will be communicated soon.
All this happened while Irene was away in US on a business trip. “She (Irene) is currently in the US where she represented us at the launch of a new music streaming service that will target Africa in the coming months,” Benon told us.
