Vince (Grenier) and the boys are back! Back from where they left off in Entourage, the TV series that is. And the boys are Vince’s brother Johnny (Dilon), Eric (Connolly) and Turtle (Ferrara).
The movie starts with Vince looking for a new project after his marriage hits the rocks. He talks to his former agent Ari (Piven) who offers him the lead role in a movie. Vince agrees on the condition that he also directs. A few months later, a first cut of the movie is ready. However, their budget is overshot and they need more money to complete it.
Ari talks to Larsen and Travis who have a stake in the movie about providing more money. They seem open to the idea till everything starts to fall apart, in ways the boys they had not anticipated, showing the politics involved in making a movie in Hollywood.
For anyone who has watched the series, it is a treat to see these characters back in action. It may, however, feel more like a long episode of the series more than a movie. And that is where the problem lies with the movie. It may not hit any notes with people who have not watched the series. Have you ever gone for a party where everyone knows each other and they share inside jokes you cannot keep up with, even if you tried? You may feel like this if you haven’t watched the movie, especially if you are the kind who likes to connect the dots.
That does not mean that it is does not make for an entertaining movie. The dialogue is humorous where it needs to be, and the boys’ antics hilarious.
