What exactly is done at Traflight.com?
It’s a search engine that helps people book flights, hotels, rental cars and boat cruises.
How does the system work?
All you have to do is fill in your destination and date you wish to fly. The system then brings you all the flights for that destination with their fees so you compare and book whatever fits your wallet.
When did you develop this system?
I developed this idea in 2010 after graduating with a Bachelors degree in Information Technology from Islamic University In Uganda.
Where did the name Traflight come from?
Traflight is a combination of the words travel and flight. I just combined the two to come up with it.
Why would someone trust this domain?
The system is based on strong E-commerce security so people don’t need to worry about cyber fraud and besides, the system acts as a middle man for all hotels, airlines and rental car companies. All you need to do is find a flight that offers fees friendly to your pockets and tickets will be emailed to you immediately after you complete the payment.
With the slow Internet in Uganda, how is it viable to conduct cyber business?
The system is so light and is developed on the latest software platforms, which makes it accessible even in moments when the Internet is down. It is also compatible with most of the handsets and because Uganda has a lot of Internet service providers, this creates an escape route because different companies provide different Internet packages.
Don’t you charge anything for these services?
The system is totally free. Except that it will be the flight company or hotel to charge for their services. Your only requirement will be a Visa or Master Card to perform these online transactions.
What challenges have you faced so far?
My main challenge is that no bank in Uganda would let me recommend my clients for Visa cards. They don’t buy the idea because they are scared, but I have started making E-commerce awareness videos, which I have to distribute online. This will help in eliminating fear of engaging in online transactions.
