Sometimes enjoying food or time-out takes more than just good presentation of a meal on a plate. Ambience plays a part too. Flavours Fashion Restaurant & Bar fairly gives you both- food in a peaceful environment.
It is located in a quiet corner of Bugolobi, on Plot 26, Luthuli Rise as you head to the flats. Its menu is continental, serving Asian and Ugandan dishes. From the same kitchen comes Luwombo, chicken fricassee, Chinese sizzler and flavoured barbeque, among 50 items on the menu.
The weekly theme nights reflect the kind of clients the hangout aims at attracting. It is Corporate Night on Mondays, Colleagues Night on Tuesdays, Indian Night on Wednesdays, Western Night- with live band’ on Thursdays, African Night on Fridays, Chinese Holiday on Saturdays and Family Day Out on Sundays.
Every Friday is Dumplings Day where patrons are given as an extra dish and a 50 per cent discount on bill above Shs100,000. Flavours is spacious. It has five sections; the VIP, VVIP, dinner room, bar and party hall. 200 people can fill up these spaces.
The hangout is open from 10am to 11pm, every day. They serve drinks and food. Sodas cost Shs2,500, water Shs2,000, juice and tea Shs8,000, beers go for Shs5,000, wines cost between Shs10,000 and Shs20,000 a glass, vodka tots cost between Shs5,000 and Shs20,000 and whisky between Shs4,000 and Shs20,000.
You will be served Asian dishes (Chinese) between Shs12,000 and Shs60,000, African dishes between Shs15,000 and Shs50,000. European dishes cost between Shs20,000 and Shs60,000 and Indian dishes between Shs15,000 and Shs50,000. There is barbeque served between Shs45,000 and Shs120,000.
Even on weekends, Flavours remains quiet. They don’t play loud music because the place is surrounded with residences and management would not like to be charged for noise pollution.
That is perhaps why they capitalised on décor, a fountain and good furniture, much of which was imported from China. By the way, the place originally catered for patrons who enjoyed Chinese cooking. As such, much of the interior décor is Chinese inspired. The neatness and cleanliness is commendable here.
