Gigs just keep coming in for comedienne Anne Kansiime. The latest on her table is a deal to host the Star QT Awards Premiere in South Africa on May 30.
“I have been all over the world, but I cannot wait to go to South Africa,” Kansiime said.
The awards, now in their second year are organised by South African based designer Stella Nankya and they aim at rewarding excellence in different spheres of life among Ugandans living in South Africa. The premiere event to be held at the City Hall in Johannesburg is a precursor to the awards gala night to be held on September 5.
Unlike other Ugandan entertainers who go to South Africa for a mostly Ugandan audience, it looks like South Africans and other Africans living in Johannesburg are interested in Kansiime as news of her performance has been covered in South African newspapers like The New Age and The Sowetan.
“For those who need a bit of ‘schooling’ Anne Kansiime is a comedienne who is known for her funny comedy skits which have earned her over 15 million views on YouTube. She is also a stand up comedienne with numerous industry awards,” The Sowetan introduced her to the South African audience.
Nankya, the organiser of the awards says that this year they are expanding the scope to incorporate other African nationals in South Africa.
“We have chosen to also include our fellow outstanding Africans from all over the continent in a bid to appreciate their exceptional contribution towards making life better in this country,” Nankya said.
