Something for everyone at the swanky Liquid Silk

0PEN 24-7: Located at Village Mall in Bugolobi, the hangout never closes its doors as you can pop in for breakfast, lunch, dinner and have liquor on a night out, writes Edgar R. Batte

Modern architecture, fine furniture, fairly good food and customer service share a common place in Liquid Silk, one of the cool places at Village Mall in Bugolobi. It is an upmarket hangout which gets lively on a Saturday night. The live band gives patrons reason to go have a good time as it performs both its originals and popular covers.
Revellers are seated in the comfort of sofas and on bar stools sipping on beer, coffee, tea or some high-end spirits and brandy.
When the tempo hits the high notch, a few cannot contain their excitement and will get up and dance to the tunes. You do not need a licence to get down and into the groove with your buddies or date.
When Liquid Silk opened, the proprietor, Elvis Ssekyanzi, invested not just money but his energies in the place. The location warranted nothing less than top notch. Riders Bar, Restaurant and Lounge, which is also at Village Mall had set a standard and there was no way Silk was going to present any less.
The idea behind Silk is to offer 365 degrees of entertainment; fine dining, bar and nightclub business in one spot. Have they? Fairly well. The food tastes good enough, the bar is stocked and the deejays do a good job on the decks.
For those who care for beauty, the waitresses are pretty though sometimes take orders faster than they deliver, particularly on busier nights. So, you will have to practice some patience.
For the beautiful ambience and location of this hangout, you are expected to part with Shs7,000 for a beer. Soft drinks go for Shs3,000.
Sunday is commonly a stay-home day as people prepare for or worry about manic Mondays. If you are used to buying beer at Shs5,000 and unwilling to pay more, then you might consider chilling at Silk on Sunday when the prices go down to attract revellers, given the fact that not many patrons go out on Sundays after eventful Fridays and Saturdays.
The theme night is Sunday Super Soul, with barbeque at Shs15,000. Every Thursday is Tusker Thursdays where you get to buy a bucket of Tusker at Shs18,000.
Entrance is always free, but controlled. There are five sections that can accommodate up to 600 guests. There is the low lounge, the J.W Lounge which is branded VVIP, a casino area, a terrace and rooftop.
Much of the place was created for relaxation, targeting middle level professionals and customers looking for alternative entertainment.
