What not to wear in January. It is a hot month
The issue of weather and fashion can be very tricky especially here in Kampala. Our weather doesn’t change much, and that means certain trends like ugg boots, fur, or snow caps may be very tricky to try out.
With particular emphasis on January, we all know how hot this month can be, especially during the day. That is why I was left dumbfounded when I met one of this town’s “celebrities” a few weeks back wearing a skin tight black dress and Ugg boots! Yes, you heard me well. And that wasn’t at night; she was wearing them at 11am in the morning. You may think that I am probably being judgemental, but I don’t even see what business a Ugandan, has buying ugg boots, unless you are a mu-summer. And even then, those boots shouldn’t be anywhere on your list when you are packing for your trip down here in Uganda.
I think every fashionable person living here should actually have a January wardrobe that consists of the light, and sassy clothing. Keep your dresses as loose as possible. The tops should be either made from chiffon, or any other lighter materials.
The don’ts should be leather, latex, all-black outfits, and anything that has fur on it.
