On Tuesday evening, a select group of journalists from different media houses were hosted to a whisky mentorship evening at Kabira Country club. The society watchdogs were treated to the luxurious Johnnie Walker Platinum for the better half of the evening.

And the mentor was none other than Tom Jones, the Global Brand Ambassador for Johnnie Walker.
Jones who was in Uganda for the first time, was flown in by Diageo subsidiary East African Breweries Ltd, who trade under Uganda Breweries Ltd in Uganda.
According to a brief from UBL, Jones previously worked for Diageo as a Brand Development Executive and has been involved in many high profile events including the Classic Malts Cruise, The Brit Awards and the Johnnie Walker Golf Championship at Gleneagles.
With over 20 years’ experience, Jones is a global figure that is famous for his unwavering passion and knowledge for fine spirits.
“Tom has traversed different corners of the world sharing the wonderful whiskies, heritage and legends of John Walker & Sons. This has included the Voyager journey without boundaries which has taken him around the world from Shanghai, sailing to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Manila, Bangkok, Singapore, Dubai, Genoa, PortoFino, Cannes, Monaco, Athens, Barcelona, Amsterdam, London, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Edinburgh. His journey onboard continued in January 2014, when Tom sailed around the Caribbean and South America,” said Annette Nakiyaga the Reserve Consumer Engagement Manager at UBL.
But Jones was not here to mentor the journalists on how to enjoy whisky, that was a side show as the decorated whisky expert was here to mentor select businessmen that were hosted by tycoon Sudhir Ruparelia at a Blue Label event at Kabira Country Club on Wednesday. UBL were tightlipped on how much it cost flying in the expert.
