P-Square headed to Jinja

P-squareYes, we mean the Nigerian singing duo P-Square, not batch of upcoming musicians from Mbiko, Jinja, Iganga or the neighbouring areas. We have it on good authority that the Nigerian singing twins Paul and Peter Okoye a.k.a. P-Square, were slated to perform in Jinja come October 10, at an event dubbed the Victoria Nile tour 2014.
Our sources in Jinja told us that Faisal Tamale and Edison Kasaijja are the brains behind P-Square’s fourth visit to Uganda, also the first time the duo will be performing in an upcountry town.
Faisal, a clearing and forwarding agent in Jinja, is also Minister Lukia Isanga Nakadama’s son. Kasaijja and Faisal own Victoria Tours, the company that is flying in the Nigerian stars.

Also gracing the event will be Kenyan songbird Amani and Jamaican singer Samantha J of the Tight Skirt fame.
However, our sources had expressed concern over the organisers’ sloppiness in promoting the show, considering the moneys at stake. The last time P- Square came to Kampala, they charged the promoter $150,000 (about Shs 390m), minus air tickets, accommodation and entertainment costs.

But Kasaijja told us that they had paid the singing duo only Shs100m for the Jinja concert. Kasaijja also blamed the delay in serious advertisement on the fact that Nile Breweries, who are the show’s major sponsors, had asked them to postpone the show to a later date because they have another major event around the same time in Kampala. Nile Breweries has just concluded the Club Mega Fest and they are also behind the Nile Gold Jazz Safari that is on next weekend.

Kasaijja said they were due for a meeting with Nile Breweries to have a final word on the date, after which they would request P-Square to consider the new date.
He however maintained that P-Square was fully paid!

The show was slated to take place on October 10, but the organisers say they are still finalising with the sponsors, Nile Breweries, who are currently involved in other events, so the show might be postponed.
