The track :Enter The Ring – Code featuring A-Pass

Hip pop is one of the fastest growing genres in our music industry, especially with new talent sprouting every day. It wouldn’t be wrong therefore if I referred to Enter The Ring by Code as a manifestation of that fact. On this jam, he teams up with A-Pass a reggae artiste, giving listeners a fusion of rap and reggae, which never disappoints. The first time I heard of Code was on his single Owaye, which seemed promising though it didn’t make it to the chats because this young rapper’s lyrical content and production might not match up to a classic rap song, which is still a big problem with his latest track.

Opening with a church hymnal, A-Pass asserts his presence on the jam, assuring fans how Code is back on the scene. On this track, the witty lines, clever wordplay, humour, delivery, braggadocio and a pack of conversational storytelling, Code dares other rappers in the industry to face him in a battle as he mimics a Kanye West, opera which we hope he plays down in the future. A-Pass on the other hand delivers the chorus with a Jamiacan reggae feel that will get a listener try to pick lyrics as it’s the part one will not forget after listening to the jam.
