Well, besides the sweet and fluent voice, Patricia has another talent to her name; modelling.
She is not one of the usual faces on the catwalks, but the former KFM news anchor’s height is befitting for a model and we were wondering why she was not modelling.
But Patricia shocked us when she told us that she had started modeling when she was 19 years in Nairobi. “My cousin took me to Sylvia Owori’s exhibition and the moment she spotted us, she added us to her cast of models.”
Patricia, however, told us she quit modelling because people had a very bad perception of models and on returning to Uganda she took on a radio career.
And yet the same reason she quit is the very reason she is returning to modelling. “I want to change the perception of models in Uganda and East Africa.” She is the Managing Director of Zulu Consultants Ltd, a modelling agency and fashion house she set up recently.
“We are recruiting models and the Zulu fashion house will officially launch in June,” she told us.
Unlike several designers who stick to selling only their designs, Patricia told us that Zulu will make their own designs but also sell other Ugandan designers’ products. “We want to reach out to every Ugandan ready to support Ugandan fashion.”
Patricia told us that she will maintain her day job and work longer hours to achieve her dream.
