Chameleone given a hero’s welcome in DRC

On returning from his annual American tour, singer Jose Chameleone was blessed with a new baby boy. The new baby came as a surprise as Daniella managed to keep her pregnancy a top secret until she gave birth. Congs Daniella and Chameleone upon the new baby, Amma Christian Mayanja.

The American tour ended, but Chameleone is still on the move as he will kick off his UK tour next month. And during what he defined as a break, the Music Doctor decided to make good for the show he declined to honour in DRC sometime earlier this year. Chameleone was supposed to perform in Congo around April, but that was about the same time, the M23 rebels intensified their attacks.

But Congolese promoters wanted  the singer to perform in the DRC at all costs.
After a meeting, it was agreed that they charter a chopper for the singer and his crew for shows in different Congolese regions, and also provide him security.
He first performed in Rwanda and he arrived in DRC via Rwanda Air. On arrival, the organisers took him on a drive through different parts of Kinshasa.

It was a heroic welcome as people stood by the roadsides to wave at Chameleone who was seated on top of a BMW X5, flanked by several boda boda riders. In short, Chameleone’s arrival paralysed Kinshasa!
The singer was humbled as he posted on his wall, “I thank you God for the talent and creativity that doesn’t care about boundaries. I am so happy that I can be welcomed by people from all walks of life and cultures.

“I am proud of this responsibility-keeping a smile on everyone’s face. No matter how much trouble DR Congo could be going through, these happy hearts opted to invite me to their healing in this time…”
Thanks for flying the Ugandan flag high, Jose Chameleone.
