Close to a decade ago when it had just opened, it was rumoured to be a racist hangout, where only whites and foreigners were considered customers. But the Club Rouge owner back then, entertainment guru Aly Allibhai, worked so hard to ensure that both locals and foreigners appreciated Rouge in same measure. Today, Rouge is nine years old, a year shy of a decade and it’s still one of the most frequented places in Kampala.
The club later changed management when businessman Spear Abowe took over from Allibhai and after two years without anniversary celebrations, Club Rouge is set to celebrate their ninth year in business tomorrow. The event is expected to be characterised with pomp, glitz and glamour. “It’s a red carpet event and we are having performances from top Ugandan artistes,” said Gareth Onyango, the Club’s Marketing Manager. The extremely scarce Juliana Kanyomozi and Jose Chameleone will headline the performances. We have been invited and we will give you the 411, for now, join us in congratulating Club Rouge upon their ninth birthday!
